On my way to work one morning last week, I came across an article in the newspaper that caught both my attention and anger. I normally only glance at the headlines because the usual superficial stories of celebrity gossip don’t hold much interest, but there was a small piece about a game available on Google Play that I made a point of reading all the way through.
I recently wrote this contribution for The Mental Attic on the subject of self-image after coming across an article in the newspaper about a liposuction game targeted at young girls. It’s not the kind of post I’d usually write as I find it hard reveal details about myself personally, but it reminded me of insecurities from my childhood and I felt as if there were things I wanted to say.
There is little emphasis in today’s media on learning to love yourself and being happy with who you are, when what really makes a person attractive is how they react to the world and people around them. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.
